WEIRD PLESIOSAUR VERTEBRA - OXFORD CLAY, PETERBOROUGH

Cryptocleidus eurymerus Phillips.

Matrix free vertebra from a Plesiosaur. Most of the outer surface of the bone has been weathered in a differential manner. The result is a vertebra which looks like it has been 'peeled' in some way. A really strange oddball specimen.

Jurassic, Oxford Clay.
Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

Specimen : 4 x 3.5 x 1.6 cm.
