Anomalacaris ?

Hand sized piece of shale with part of a large segmented Arthropod. The division of two separate 'plates' is quite evident. The size alone suggests a top predator such as Anomalacaris. An exciting undescribed animal. Apart from Ogyginus the only other large animals recorded from Gilwern are sponges, orthocones cephalopods and early Echinoderms. This fossil clearly is none of these!

Ordovician, Lower Llanvirn Series
Old Tile Quarry, Upper Gilwern Hill, near Hundred House, Powys, Wales
