TURTLE BONE WITH ALLIGATOR PUNCTURE WOUND - PLEISTOCENE, FLORIDA ,U.S.A.
Turtle indeterminate.
A vertebra from a turtle. On one of the side bony extensions there is a 2 cm puncture wound going right through the bone. Two different types of turtles are recorded, the Pond turtle Pseudemys sp. and the soft shelled turtle, Apalone ferox. The puncture wound is from an Alligator, (Alligator mississippiensis). Superb example of evidence of predation.
