The quarry and mines at Monte Bolca have been famous for centuries for their beautifully preserve fossil fish and plants. Fish from here are highly prized by collectors al over the world. Complete Clupeid (Herring) on matrix with plant fragments. The fish shows beautiful detail of the skull bones, eye, vertebral column,ribs, fins and tail under magnification. Small neat repair towards the tail does not detract from what is a beautiful fish. These are really hard to come by these days.
