TOOTH FROM A MOLLUSC CRUSHING MOSASAUR - LATE CRETACEOUS, MOROCCO.

Globidens phospaticus Bardet & Pereda Suberbiola 2005.

Globidens was a specialist feeder. The blunt rounded teeth were perfect for crushing the hard shells of molluscs. Most Mosasaurs were carnivores so Globidens was exploiting another available food source. Beautiful tooth.

Cretaceous, Late Maastrichtian.
Oulad Abdoun, Morocco.

Tooth : 3.8 x 2.8 x 3.6 cm.
