Section of petrified wood replaced by silica. Polished on both surfaces. The cell structure (which looks like small worms !) is very unusual. The Miocene of Oregon has produced a wealth of fossil wood from a huge variety of different trees (Willow. Cherry, Sweet Gum, Magnolia). It should be possible with a bit of research to name this one from the unusual structure

Miocene, Trout Creek Formation.
McDermitt, Malheur County, Oregon, U.S.A..
