Family : Scarabeidae.

Beautifully preserved Scarab beetle on buff siltstone. The wing cases are open. Lovely surface detail of the insect under magnification. A little 'Gem'.

Eocene, Green River Formation, Parachute Creek Member.
'Raydome' locality, near Douglass Pass, Garfield County, Colorado U.S.A.

Insect : 0.9 cm.long.
