PLIOSAUR VERTEBRA WITH 2 TEETH MARKS - KIMMERIDGIAN, DORSET

Pliosaurus sp. indet.

Vertebra from a medium sized marine reptile. Formerly known as Stretasaurus, the status of this particular genus is under question. The bone is slightly distorted but complete and in lovely condition. One outer surface shows a pair of roughly circular indentations - the teeth mark of another reptile, probably scavenging on the carcase.

Jurassic, Kimmeridge Clay
Dredged off Weymouth Harbour, Dorset, UK

Bone: 9.5 x 9 x 3.3 cms
