PLIOSAUR TAIL VERTEBRA - JURASSIC, DORSET.
Pliosaur sp.
Matrix free vertebra from a Pliosaur. Both end surfaces have marine worms attached. There are three different species of Pliosaur recorded from the Kimmeridge clay. This one is likely to be either Pliosaurus brachyspondylus (Owen) or Pliosaurus brachydeirus Owen. In excellent condition.
