Psiloceras planorbis (Sowerby 1816)
Beautiful attractive Ammonite on grey shale. The iridescent colours are amazing. Zonal index species and the oldest Ammonite in the British isles.I A 'gem'. There is a second Ammonite on the other side of the shale.
Lowermost Jurassic, Lower Hettangian, Planorbis Zone, Aldergrove Beds.
Doniford bay, Watchet, Somerset.
Ammonite : 1.7 cm diam.
