Thamnasteria sp.
Cone shaped compound coral which has grown on top of an earlier similarly shaped coral. The surface detail is quite superb under magnification. Difficult to get this down to a species. Close to Thamnasteria mettensis but also might be T.defranchia or even T. fugiformis. From a very famous old locality.
Jurassic, Bajocian, Inferior Oolite.
Fiddler's Elbow quarry, Coopers Hill near Gloucester.
Specimen : 6 x 6 x 5 cm.
