Asteroceras obtusum (Sowerby)
Base cut free standing diamond shaped piece of grey limestone. It stands so that the fossil is at the apex. Towards the top of the diamond is a beautifully preserved 3D calcitic Ammonite.Developed right to the centre. A very attractive example of this 'classic' zonal Ammonite from Lyme / Charmouth. Promicroceras planicosta (Sowerby) on the back of the matrix.
Jurassic, Upper Sinemurian, Obtusum Zone.
Black Ven, Charmouth / Lyme Regis, Dorset.
Ammonite : 5.7 cm diam.
