MOTHER OF PEARL AMMONITE WITH TOOTH MARK - MAASTRICHTIAN, MONTANA
Hoploscaphites nicolletti Morton 1842 var. saltgrassensis Elias 1933
Very nice 3D specimen, to centre on both sides. Retains original mother of pearl shell. Finely ribbed. One side shows a 0.2 cm wide, 2 cm long groove. This is evidence of predation, wither from a Mosasaur, a shark or a large fish. Fantastic example.
Cretaceous, Maastrichtian, Pierre Shale Dawion County, Montana, USA
Ammonite; 6 cm diameter
