Asteroceras stellare (J. Sowerby)
This species of Asteroceras can grow to up to a metre in diam. This is a perfect complete aptychus from one of these monsters. Only the second one I have ever seen. Off the scale in terms of rareness. Aptychi are usually preserved in aragonite rather than calcite. That is why they are so seldom found with the Ammonite shell. An absolute beauty. In a really heavy block of limestone. N.B. THIS SPECIMENS WEIGHS ALMOST 3 KILOS. UK POSTAGE ONLY ON THIS ITEM.
