Micraster coranguinum (Leske).

Matrix free Echinoid. In nice condition and showing lovely detail under magnification. Toward the rear and near the base are a series of three irregular deep holes in the test. This appears to be the result of some sort of predation. Possibly a starfish feeding or a fish having a nibble. Unusual.

Cretaceous, Upper Chalk, Santonian, Coranguinum Zone.
Palm Bay, Thanet, Kent.

Echinoid : 4 x 3.8 x 2.5 cm.
