Leptonectes sp.
Palm sized slab of the famous Rhaetic Bone Bed
from Aust Cliff on the River Severn. In the centre on one surface is a paddle digit from the Ichthyosaur, Leptonectes. Lying next to this is a much larger thin piece of bone which may be a coracoid or clavicle of an Ichthyosaur. Identifiable Marine reptile bones from the Bone bed are not at all common finds.
Triassic, Rhaetic, Penarth Group, Westbury Formation, Rhaetic Bone Bed.
