Otodus (Megalselachus) megalodon

Matrix free complete tooth of a giant extinct shark. Both edges of the blade show serrations. The tooth is a delicate shade of pinkish cream with blotches of orange in parts. Very attractive. Towards the base of the blade and in the root area are a number of holes and grooves. These are almost certainly the result of boring by pidducks. Nice interesting tooth.

Miocene Period.
Aurora, North Carolina, U.S.A.

Tooth : 6 cm. tall.
