There is evidence that a remnant population of mammoths was still alive on Wrangel island Arctic Siberia 8000 years ago.. This perfect beautifully preserved Mammoth footbone comes from an island in the same general area.

Late Pleistocene. very late Devensian.
Novosibirsk Islands, Arctic Siberia.
