Equus sp.

A radius bone of an adult ice age horse. Towards the proximal termination on one surface there is a deep gouge in the surface of the bone. This is the result of a bite from a large carnivore. Almost certainly from a Lion or a Leopard The horse is likely to be Equus ferus Boeddaert.

Pleistocene, Devensian. Thames Gravels.
Stanton Harcourt, Oxfordshire.

Bone : 19.3 cm long.
