Paleospondylus gunni Traquair 1890.
Paleospondylus is an enigmatic fossil . it is thought to be a larval hagfish. Know only form the one locality in the world. Grey shale with 2 individuals. Under magnification you can see the head, long body and tail. From the collection of the late Professor G. Walkden of Aberdeen University and collected back in the 1980's. The locality of Achanarras is now an SSSI.
Middle Devonian, Upper Eifelian, Achanarras Limestone member.
