Echinocorys scutata Leske var 'gravesi'.
Large matrix free with a very distinctive shape. As with a lot of large Echinocorys because the test is relatively thin you get some crushing particularly around the base. On this specimen one valve of the bivalve, Spondylus spinosus has become attached to the base along with several serpulid worms. Unusual piece.
Cretaceous, Coniacian, Cortestudinarium Zone.
Chatham, Kent.
Echinoid : 8 x 6 x 6.2 cm.
