Ursus spelaeus Linné

Vertebra from an Ice Age Cave Bear. The animal was suffering from some form of bone disease as many of the surfaces have bony projections. Osteo-arithritis and other bone problems are more common on older individuals. Really good example.

Pleistocene, Devensian.
