Glyptodon reticulatus

Glyptodons were huge Armadillo like animals. The entire body was protected with interlocking bony plates. This was a defensive strategy to combat the threat of sabre- toothed cats. Single plate or scute. More than 3cm thick.

Pleistocene, Lujan Formation.
Rio Lujan, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
