Dapedium politum (Leach)
Beach nodule find. One surface shows the back of the skull still attached to the first part of the body with black scales. The skull shows the operculum, cheek bones and distinctive sculptured jaw bone fragments. The other side of the specimen shows numerous isolated bones. Dapedium finds are rare.
Jurassic, Lower Sinemurian.
Church Cliff Bay, Lyme Regis, Dorset.
