Crocodile sp. indet with fish tooth - Pachycormus or Hypsocormus

Caudal vertebra from a Crocodile. Matrix free with all faces intact. Nice preservation. Still attached at one end is the tooth from a predatory fish. At least four different types of Crocodile are recorded from the British Kimmeridge Clay. These include. Metriorhynchus, Teleosaurus, Dakosaurus and Geosaurus. This is probably from the more common genus, Metriorhynchus which was adapted for a fully marine life with flippers instead of legs. interesting piece.
