Mammuthus primigenius Blumenbach.

Part of the central core from the tusk of a Mammoth. The characteristic 'cross hatching' structure of the ivory is very evident at the wider end. Nice neat little piece.

Pleistocene, Devensian
Dredged from the Brown Bank, North Sea off Lowestoft.

Specimen : 6.5 cm. long.
