COPROLITE - JURASSIC, YORKSHIRE.
Coprolite indet.
Split nodule found on the beach at Runswick Bay in 2015. Inside is a 3D lozenge shaped coprolite. Under magnification there is very little evidence of and bone material. To me this might suggest it came from a large fish such as Gyrosteus or a big Lepidotes rather than a reptile or a shark.
Jurassic, Upper Lias, upper Toarcian. Runswick Bay, Yorkshire.
Coprolite : 4cm. long.
