Mesacanthus sp.
Acanthodians were predatory fish. They are characterised by a shagreen of tiny scales and bony spines supporting all the fins. This slightly curled up complete fish shows both these characteristics to perfection. Some nice detail under magnification. The tail is particularly well shown on this specimen.
