BIRD BONES - INDETERMINATE.
9 beautifully preserved dark brown to black bird bones. All are either leg or wing bones. The majority are from wildfowl although one of the tarso-metatarsal bones is almost certainly from a raptor of some description. Bird bones are very delicate and are rare in the fossil record. Really nice selection.
Very late Pleistocene . Outwash gravels from Lake Agassiz.
Anaka County, central / eastern Minnesota, USA.
Largest bone : 8 cm long.
