Clidastes sp.

Clidastes was a large predatory marine reptile. (Mosasaur). Part of the lower jaw showing an empty tooth socket. Below this and still set in the jawbone is a replacement or germ tooth ready to erupt. 

Cretaceous, Lower Campanian, Taylor Formation.
North Sulphur River, Pecan Gap, Texas, USA.

Specimen : 4.7 x 2.6 cm.
