Ursus spelaeus Rosenmuller & Heinroth 1784.

Matrix free complete metapodial bone from the wrist / ankle of an adult cave bear. On the top articulating surface at the proximal end there is a distinct groove. This is most likely from the tooth of a predator - Cave Lion, Leopard or a Hyena bite.

Pleistocene, Devensian.
Buso del Piombo,Erba, Lake Como, Northern Italy

Bone : 7.5 cm long.
