Clypeus plotti Salter
The classic Cotswold Echinoid. Sometimes known as 'Chedworth buns'. Matrix free beautifully preserved specimen. Upper surface matrix free. Lower surface still with some matrix attached. What is very unusual about this particular specimen is the mottled 'camouflage' effect of the grey and cream colouration of the test. Some cracks but overall a very nice 'different' Clypeus.
Jurassic, Bajocian, Clypeus Grit.
Wyke Rissington, Gloucestershire.
Echinoid : 9.8 x 10 x 3 cm.
