Ursus arctos Linn√© 1758.

Complete vertebra from an Ice Age brown bear. Towards the base of the centrum on one side it appears that another bone has fused to the vertebra. This is a gross abnormality and is only seen on one side. Very unusual.

Pleistocene, Devensian.
Tomaszowski Cave near Krakov, Poland.

Vertebra : 13 cm. tall.
