Mesacanthus mitchelli Egerton.
Acanthodians were small jawed predatory fish. Their characteristic features are the 'shagreen' of tiny scales covering the body and bony fin supports. Both these features are shown to perfection on this beautifully preserved fish. Shows the back of the head and the full body. The tail is missing. Really high quality.
