Aepyornis maximus Hilaire, 1851.

Large fragment of eggshell from an 'Elephant' bird. These flightless birds were amongst the largest birds to exist. Their eggs are the largest in the World. Nice clean example.

Pleistocene,
Marofototra region, Central west Madagascar.
